Easy. The wiring situation is abysmal, but I did manage to put a
1wire line in that room, for measuring outdoor and water temperature.

I'd also like to use the stuff for future projects where some more
(optional) local intelligence would be nice. The same sort of thing
would, for instance, also be useful for managing the system's radiators.

(There's a reason traditional thermostats don't work well in my house,
but that's even more off-topic.)

program and have tools for) onto the wire, or (b) spending a couple of
days routing a network cable into that room, I'll take option (a),
thanks very much. ;-)

... as long as that hack doesn't entail writing complete 1wire slave
code from scratch  :-/  which is why I asked.
