I have noticed that owfs stops responding every so often. It is not as
regular an interval as you are seeing, and I don't know what
specifically is causing it (USB failure or software failure). I simply
restart owfs and it takes care of it. I keep a list of sensors that
should respond, and then I have a temp collection script that runs every
5 mins. If none of the sensors respond, I assume something is wrong and
try restarting OWFS with '/etc/init.d/owfs restart' and email me the
result. Keep in minf I'm running owfs version 2.7p4 on Ubuntu
2.6.17-10-server. I intend to upgrage to a newer version of both owfs
and ubuntu this winter when I have more free time.

I was wondering on how stable people have found the (blue) 1wire USB
adapters. I run mine 24/7, the first unit ran for 12 months and then
started to fail every 2-4 weeks. A reboot of the server fixed it
however would fail again in 2-3 weeks. Now my second unit is now
about 30 months old is starting to fail, stops working every 2-3 weeks
again. I have had a good run out of the second one however would like
it to be stable for a life time. Does anyone else run owfs 24/7 with
a USB 1wire and experienced similar problems ?
