Hi all:

The recent thread on the new BAE device has gotten me thinking...Is
there enough interest in an open source microprocessor library or code
base for doing OW slave stuff?

I may have some undergrad EE's available to work on a project like
this over the summer, but if it is to succeed, I'd need to have a
clear vision as to the goals. I've tried this in the past, but I
don't think I had a clear enough direction to get it going. I'm also
convinced that my use/vision is too small to develop something useful
to the "masses", and thus would like to solicit input and assistance
from others out there. This would most likely be Atmel-based, as the
university here is very much based around the atmel chips, and have a
plethora of support for atmel development.

I liked Jerry's suggestion...I knew something like that needed to be
done, but I didn't know (and still really don't have a clear vision)
of exactly what. The biggest problem I see with OW slave chips is a
realistic way of telling OWFS what capabilities are on the chip and
how to use them.

So...Is there interest in developing a "spec" for an open-source OW
slave implementation? Is this the right place to do it?
