and the next:

That was with digitemp over serial.
Then I switched to owfs over USB and I'm seeing:
2010/03/09 08:18:16 56 Hall_Closet F: 59.8438 H: -26.7186%
So, I'm going to return my DS2438 based AAG TAI-8540 tomorrow unless
you have ideas for what could be wrong.
Now, do you have suggestions for another humidity sensor to buy instead?
