With high-impedance inputs left floating you are at the mercy of all kinds
of variables like humidity, dust on the circuit board, electrostatic
induction, board layout - a whole zoo of variables you can't control very
well.

iButtonLink seems to me to be saying more or less the same thing: "It SEEMS
to work with a floating Vdd - but we are not guaranteeing it." Otherwise,
they would have said, "It WILL work with a floating Vdd."
