Well I setup a script to hammer on nodes in the owfs directory and found that owfs crashes after a day or two for reasons unknown to me. I guess if I understood more about the internals of owfs generally I might be able to debug it, but each time I've tried to use the owfs FUSE mechanism on my platforms, I found it unreliable. I have found the combination of owserver + ownet client or owshell apps are quite solid and reliable so I just use that and it works well. I'm guessing there are more layers and external libraries involved in the owfs type interface which increases the complexity of getting it to work reliably on each platform/architecture.
