I did update the DS2438 man page, but haven't posted it to the web site. The DATANAB/reset is write-only yes-no (0 or 1).
If written with a true (1) value, the calibration constants will be reread and the offset and current sensing reset to the proper state for humidity. This is done automatically on the first humidity reading, and only would be needed under exceptional conditions (switching the sensor out, playing with the vis and offset values, etc).
