Well, the first thing you'll find is that not all PogoPlug devices are created equal. Unfortunately the vendor emphasises the features but says almost nothing about the hardware specs. So for hackers it takes quite a bit of effort to wade through all the markitechure to find out exactly what is in these little beasts. The PogoPlug Pro has a PCIe interface that has a WiFi card installed but the CPU is different to some of the earlier boards and so armedslack as it is now won't work on this board. If you don't want WiFi then you can get the Pink version which has a different CPU which might work. They also have a Video variant that swaps out the WiFi card for some sort of graphics or video compression coprocessor so that it can do on-the-fly video transcoding to devices but apparently under some circumstances the chip overheats and can catch fire - ouch! The other device seem to have more RAM and/or they provide more features via their website. Certainly an interesting concept. Unfortunately you can waste a lot of time trying to figure all this out... Alex ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Got Input? Slashdot Needs You.
