OK, I have got the wifi working fine with the router a wifi client on
my network.

I seriously considered using your design but decided to go for a
standard serial port and a separate adaptor as this is still very much
at the experimental stage and thought that at some stage a standard
serial port on the router might be useful.

The plan is for the router to be a remote 1-Wire hub which just serves
data to a central control via the wifi so I don't need any local
storage, at least initially.

The DS9097 should be here within a day or two.  I will report back.
