It's an application that I've been investigating for a while.  You can
get hall effect sensors that have a 'hole in the middle' for measuring
current but you need a bit of auxiliary circuitry to make a sensible
voltage to measure.  They aren't 'clamp' devices either, nor for AC.

If a clamp type sensor was available by itself (rather than as a
complete meter) then I'd be very interested.
