BTW: I'm not sure, but "busnum" could be used by I2C device drivers, as well. You (or someone) may want to check, if daemons like sensorsd (CPU thermal and fan supervision etc.), finger print sensor drivers or drivers of old touch pads and ThinkPad finger sticks (which often were connected by I2C) use conflicting bus enumeration. I'd suggest to limit the search for devices to /sys/bus/usb/devices and /sys/bus/usb-serial/devices.
