The Pi I²C is 3.3 volts. Both the DS2482-100 and the DS2408 can work at
3.3V bus voltage, but your LCD may refuse to do so. Check it.
If that's the problem, use a level shifter on the I²C side, like the
PCA9306. They are about 50ct/pc.
