Hi all, My name is Nils-Johan and lives in Sweden (so excuse my English). I have recently installed ownCloud on my Bubba Two server (PowerPC 333 megahertz and 256 megabyte RAM) and i am happy.
Of course encryption would be great but if it's implemented i would like it be - able to choose "on/off" on user and server level - choose if its gonna be server-side or client-side. in a scenario where the server (as mine) is doubling as mediaserver, router, fileserver serving out nfs-shares to clients in the network and so on, i want to be able to choose where the encryption takes place to save my server from some workload. But i don't know if its possible or even desirable to be able to make those chooses. /NJ 2011/9/8 <[email protected]> > Send Owncloud mailing list submissions to > [email protected] > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/owncloud > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > [email protected] > > You can reach the person managing the list at > [email protected] > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Owncloud digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. server side encryption, next step(s) (Sebastian Henschel) > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Message: 1 > Date: Wed, 07 Sep 2011 17:18:33 +0400 > From: Sebastian Henschel <[email protected]> > To: owncloud <[email protected]> > Subject: [Owncloud] server side encryption, next step(s) > Message-ID: <1315401513.2453.24.camel@ofa> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" > > hi there... > > the new website is looking good, thanks for that. but with the move away > from the kde infrastructure, what is going to replace the bug tracker? > http://owncloud.shapado.com/ doesn't seem to allow to attach files (but > i might have overlooked that). > > the 8-byte padding patch ( > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280314) ) has been made, but > according to > http://owncloud.org/contribute/development-setup/ , i need to adapt it > to the coding guidelines. but that should also be true for other parts > in lib/crypt.php, e.g. function createkey should be renamed to > createKey? > > > so what are the next steps envisioned? i forgot what we were talking > about 2 weeks ago in the chat (does anyone have a log?). only that we > will start with a non-perfect solution to this complex issue; a solution > that can be implemented within the next couple of weeks. > > http://owncloud.titanpad.com/tasks? says: > > > * encrypt everything, starting with small files > * prioritize likely private stuff (documents, photos etc.) over > media (music, videos) > * show a progress bar in Personal ? with a note that one can wait > until it?s all encrypted > > is there anyone doing anything on it right now? re 3rd bullet: 'one > _can_ wait?' or 'one _has to_ wait?' is there some kind of background > processing within owncloud that could do it while the user is browsing > around? > > thanks, > Sebastian > -- > GCSd-s:+aC++ULB+++W++M+PS+++Y+ > > Bildet Olsen Banden! > > > > > > ------------------------------ > > _______________________________________________ > Owncloud mailing list > [email protected] > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/owncloud > > > End of Owncloud Digest, Vol 19, Issue 9 > *************************************** > -- Kan inte öppna .odf filer i MS Office? http://www.sun.com/software/star/odf_plugin/
