The great thing about it is the ease of use. That is something the mozilla folks implemented very well :) So yes, for bookmarks it is probably a good idea to use something different than that due to the encryption, but keep in mind there is other data as well (auto-fill entries, passwords, extensions) that are very nice to keep in sync.
