I assume it would work. even with webdav, as that goes through the db.
The thing with WebDAV, FTP and all that stuff is – we should
discourage people from using WebDAV or FTP or anything manually. Just
use the web interface or the clients.
webdav is the exception here, as it fetches files through the owncloud
filesystem api layer cache thingy.
ftp or scp are evil ... at least when exposing the owncloud data folder
