Ignoring that it isn't FOSS, there is another type of serious lock-in effect at github. Only github-registered users can submit bugs there and github can boot users off pretty much on a whim. github's registration terms are nasty in a couple of other ways. I know the bug genie has had some problems lately, but at least it's an open system driven by Free and Open Source Software. Its developers seemed responsive the one time that I contacted them - has anyone been in touch with them about the problems owncloud has been having? After all, FOSS improves more when you engage with upstream.
