I tried hard but couldn't find out how to install OwnCloud CLIENT in Ubuntu versions older than the 12.04, but there simply aren't OwnCloud binaries or PPA for that.
That's because anything prior to 12.04 comes with ancient libraries, and, just like Debian 6, we will need to drop source compatibility to those sooner or later.
If upgrading Ubuntu isn't an option, what is the simplest way of quickly having it running on earlier Ubuntu versions without getting stuck into never-ending dependency problems?
For a remotely useful answer, I need to know which version of Ubuntu we are talking about.
