Thank you, that does seem to be a good alternative, and one 
that I could control the namespace a little easier.

As it turns out, this transform is working just fine on 
the command line.  However, after trying to look at it 
through a web app and the text-serializer, I get 
results that look like the default xsl behavior (return
the value-of all elements).

I thought the serializers would return the document as-is.
