Hi,

thanks for the info. I'm not committed to RAD
and could chose an alternative but it needs to
be very low cost (get RAD for free through IBM's
academic initiative) and it would have to support
WYSIWYG editing of the user interface parts.
Any suggestions? Especially ones where oXygen
is know to work? How about myeclipse?

Cheers,

Alex

Hi,

I am in the process of switching from a pure Eclipse

current version of oXygen in this environment. The
download page suggests that oXygen only runs with
Eclipse 3.1 but IBM RAD is based on 3.0. Does that
mean that I would have to downgrade to oXygen 6.1
(last one that was eclipse 3.0 based) or is there
another solution? I guess one would be using it
stand-alone but that's not really what I'm looking
for. Any ideas?

The latest version of oXygen does not work in RAD.

As an aside, fight very hard to stay as far away as possible from RAD.

Hello,

As stated on the Download page and in the User Manual the Eclipse plugin distribution only supports the latest Eclipse version available at the release date. Usually the plugin also works in other Eclipse versions but when the Eclipse team introduces changes in the API accessed by the <oXygen/> plugin some features of the plugin stop working. The next version of <oXygen/> adapts to the API changes but the versions already released are left supporting what was available at the release date.

That means the API changes introduced between the stable Eclipse versions 3.0 and 3.1 limit you to the version 6.1 of the plugin.

Best regards,
Sorin
