Indeed code templates work for now only in the text page.
We will study removing this limitation in a future version.

For the Author page you can create your custom actions to insert various XML fragments. See this: http://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/ug-oxygen/dg_author_settings.html#dg_configuring_actions_menus_toolbar In the "Document Type Association" preferences page you can edit the "DITA" document type and add a custom action for that. You can check out the other actions (like Bold, Italic) to see how this is done.
