Indeed code templates work for now only in the text page.
We will study removing this limitation in a future version.
For the Author page you can create your custom actions to insert various
XML fragments.

In the "Document Type Association" preferences page you can edit the
"DITA" document type and add a custom action for that.
You can check out the other actions (like Bold, Italic) to see how this
is done.
