Sorry for the misunderstanding.
This will be available in the next Oxygen 10.1 release.
I also tested your use case and in the browse tree you will see as
current directory the directory of the selected topic.

Not sure I follow--the issue is that I have a topic open in the editor, and
in the map manager select an existing topicref and then do Insert-Topic
reference to current edited file". In the dialog that comes up, the
currently-edited file is listed in the appropriate fields on the right
(e.g., the HREF= value) but is not selected in the browse tree.
Or are you saying this is fixed in the next release?
