Hi Eliot, We thought that this detection was a little more time consuming (the DTDs associated with the XML had to be parsed fully to know the default attribute values on the root element), although mostly un-noticeable if the associated DTD's and XML Schemas are local. After Oxygen 12 is released (in a couple of days) we will look into it and see if we can ship Oxygen with the checkbox selected by default.
