How does one kick KWin to communicate with kolorserver?

I see. I looked at KWin code [1] but I am not skilled enough to
recognise how it works.

[1]
https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/workspace/kwin/repository/revisions/master/entry/libkwineffects/kwinglcolorcorrection.cpp#L251

Interestingly, I do not see any of the debug KWin messages in kdebug.dbg
log, eg. the source code mentions:

[2]
https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/workspace/kwin/repository/revisions/master/entry/libkwineffects/kwinglcolorcorrection.cpp#L279
cannot enable color correction because of a previous error
color correction will be enabled after contacting KolorManager
color correction has been disabled

The only somewhat relevant message in the log is:

kwin(2556) KWin::SceneOpenGL2::slotColorCorrectedChanged: Color
correction: false
kwin(2556) KWin::SceneOpenGL2::SceneOpenGL2: OpenGL 2 compositing
successfully initialized
