I think it is much more likely that they were planning to rewrite for other reasons and decided to take the opportunity to switch to the superior platform. Rewriting a large app just to switch from webforms to mvc would be stupid in most cases.
Now we're back on track... I'm hoping that enough people are ignoring this thread and overlook the 'superior' comment.
I do agree with the final 'stupid' remark, and was the original intent of my question
I thought the wide range of experience of subscribers might solicit some different views - not necesarily invoke such emotive ones.
