A mailing list is great for a conversation about a topic at a given point in
time, but then it is lost to archives.
What I am trying to do is expose to the general internet community some
insight into how different people are doing things. We can get some
snapshots in time of how people are developing.

With a blog post people are able to put more time and thought into it, are
usually better formatted, include pictures, diagrams, etc.
My goal is to try and get more people blogging in our community, and having
people respond to a common topic and have everyone cross post seems like a
good way to do it.

Isn't it easier just to have the discussion over any given mailing list?
