Not sure if the office interop assemblies would help you, for access 97.
Bill McCarthy may be able to help you with many Access things, if he's
listening. 

Access VBA has a timer, interval up to 600 hours.

I had no previous reply on this and web searches are not looking promising.
Before proceeding with certain design decisions we have to find out if an
Access 97 (and later version) VBA code can listen to events from a .NET COM
component that the app has referenced. Searches reveals no matching articles
or tutorials so far, just lots of stuff about Access internal events. Does
anyone know if Access can listed to events from a COM component?

 

Otherwise, does Access have a Timer so the app can at least poll for
completion of along running call?
