I'm not involved anymore, but back when I was, we used to care significantly. Of course, that was before even really the iPhone was around. Nevertheless, if you want to be in the US (at least back then, and probably now even still) the Blackberry is clearly very important. The value of developing for any one platform seems arguably dubious to me anyway (outside of making a game); if you make an app it basically needs to be on all or none (my biased and perhaps not even relevant opinion). JMango <http://www.jmango.com.au/>, who I've dealt with in the past (and had great experience with, Duc the CTO is a very smart man indeed), propose a nice solution to the problem, along with various other companies. Anyway. With the movement towards less hardware and more web (regardless of what I think of that), you'd expect that generalised approaches to development are more sensible. But anyway, my preference has always been for generalised downgrading/detecting websites that are applicable for all and drastically reduce development overhead. I don't know if that's the typical pattern these days or not (probably is). > Nick Randolph | Built to Roam | Microsoft MVP – Windows Phone Development | > +61 412 413 425 > The information contained in this email is confidential.
