Hello, For those interested, a reminder that the first Quantum Lunch is tomorrow.
If this is the first time you're hearing about this, then let me tell you that the idea of the group is to gather together people who are interested in the field of quantum computing (and related areas) and discuss amongst ourselves topics of interest. Initially we are (independently) reviewing various lectures, that I've listed on the website: <http://www.mirios.com.au:8081/index.php?title=Quantum_Lunch>, specifically we a looking at CPSC 519 by John Watrous and Quantum Complexity Theory by Scott Aaronson (the former being far easier to read, covering the same topics initially). If you've ever had an interest in quantum anything feel free to come along, as we're all effectively at the same point (some of us with a slight head start), and most of the initial concepts will be familiar to programmers (namely, vectors, addition, subtraction ...). We will be meeting (hopefully) in the open area in the middle of QV (in the city, corner of Lonsdale and Swanston); you'll recognise us by the fantastic amount of maths we will be doing and the inevitable crowd that will gather to watch. In the unlikely event that you can't spot that, feel free to call me on 0413 461 843. If you aren't in Melbourne, it may be possible, assuming technological requirements are met, that the meeting will be available for joining via Skype. My name on skype is "quantum.silky", and with some luck a video feed may be available. -- Noon Silk http://dnoondt.wordpress.com/ (Noon Silk) | http://www.mirios.com.au:8081 > Fancy a quantum lunch? http://www.mirios.com.au:8081/index.php?title=Quantum_Lunch "Every morning when I wake up, I experience an exquisite joy — the joy of being this signature."
