Hi Folks, sorry about replying to the wrong thread with the wrong title, but it seems to have righted itself. Who would have thought that there are different types of DVI cables?! Not me.
I just got home after 6 hours and found the replies. I found this Harris item to be a surprising bargain, even cheaper than DELL: http://www.ht.com.au/part/Y3355-Dell-UltraSharp-U2711-LCD-monitor-27/detail. hts Stephen has my real dream monitor, the DELL 30" with 2560 x 1600 res (do you have it for graphics work as well?). I sat in front of one for a few minutes last year and was gobsmacked by the lovely experience, but they're still around the $1600AU range. I think getting 2560 x 1440 on the 27" is pretty good, and I'm really enjoying it. It's so big I don't even need to maximize VS2010 when I'm working, and I find I'm using the second monitor less. I find that looking over at a second monitor too often is quite irritating, so I love having more in front of me. I have the DELL and LG 27 inch monitors side-by-side and I can see that the colours are much richer on the DELL and the extra pixels create a razor sharp impression. It has a lovely smooth tilt mechanism too. Maybe this will make programming an enjoyable experience again (for a while ;-) Cheers, Greg
