I've seen some reports that many Windows 7 -capable devices (phones/slates/PCs) that do have touch capability and are currently being sold (remaindered ?) will not be suitable for Windows 8, where 10 point multi-touch screens are recommended. Is that so? Is Microsoft encouraging some positive standards for the (smaller) hardware platforms on which Windows 8 will be bundled?
I don't know much about this - this <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multitouch> Wikipedia article gives me some clarity, but it seems to be evolving technology. (resolution, capacitive vs resistive, pros and cons of stylus - seem to be competing directions) Why I ask is that it's probably time for me to get a capable tablet/slate device and try out some of the new APIs for touch (I have no interest in coding for devices that won't fit my fingers and give me a headache just looking at them). As an aside, on Binging (that's an alternative to Googling) '10 point touch' I found heaps of manufacturers are advertising Android 4.0 tablets, their links appearing at the top of the search heap - like this one http://bit.ly/Lu7LJI _____ Ian Thomas Victoria Park, Western Australia
