Greg, I decided to risk an in-place upgrade from W7 to W8 and didn't have any problems at all. VS2010, SQL Server Express, MySQL, PHP, Apache, Git, chocolatey, Ruby, etc etc. Everything worked perfectly. My wireless network settings were even kept. Mind. Blown.
