Don't worry about the issue of handing over all those email addresses. It's
likely they already have them. :)
The chances of them having none of the emails you have is pretty low, so
you'd be just helping them out by making sure they have an up to date
database. Your customers are likely already subscribed to a Mailchimp list
of some kind, they are used by many. (Including me).

It also handles the unsubscribe option automatically, as without that opt
out option in each email, you are legally spamming them.
+1 for outsourcing it.

Then again if your business is happy for you to reinvent the wheel (or
implement a secure wheel) and pay you, then all this is moot. The decision
is out of your hands. Spell out the options, apply appropriate bias to your
desired option, and away you go. :)

My experience of Mailchimp is that they also give lots of feedback on ways
you can improve your campaign. There's also built in protection against
people using it for spamming. (ie too many people unsubscribing and it will
suspend your account. things like that). Its quite mature.
