While being a couch potato last Friday night I was channel surfing and hit
an episode of the new *Hawaii 5-0* TV series and there was a young evil
computer genius and plot blended from *Die Hard IV* and *Person of Interest*.
Ignoring the silly plot, there was one line spoken by a cop that caught my
ear: "He's using an NSA level encrypted firewall" ... Now that's an
admirable piece of computer techno-babble and I'm still trying to figure
out what it means.

On the weekend I was also scanning stuff from an old box of memorabilia and
I found this newspaper cutout titled Sinclair's fifth
symphony<http://www.orthogonal.com.au/photos/Scans/Greg's%20Memories/Sinclair's%20fifth%20symphony.jpg>about
the promise of the 5th generation computer. I'm not sure what year
this was printed. It talks of chips, metacomputers, Prolog, AI and natural
language processing. Can anyone decode what year this was and how much of
this has come true?
