I recently bought two Sony VAIO Pro Ultrabooks. First one was for my wife and then she got sick of me stealing it when I travelled so I had to buy myself one ;-)
http://www.sony.com.au/product/svp13219pg Note that the model in the Sony store has been superseded by the SVP13229PG. We have one of each but the changes must be internal and minor as you cannot tell them apart and the specs are the same as far as I can tell. It has a carbon fibre chassis so it weighs less than an 11” MacBook Air but it’s specs are closer to a MacBook Pro: · 13” Full HD screen · 8GB RAM · 256 GB SSD · Core i7-4500U (Haswell low power) · Intel HD Graphics 4400 · 2x USB3 ports, HDMI port and SD Card slot · 1.06 Kg!!! I bought mine with a sheet battery, which doubles the already amazing battery life, but only increases the weight to 1.35 Kg. Here’s a list of online retailers for them: http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=SVP13229PGB&spos=1 Cheers, Ben From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dave Walker Sent: Thursday, 15 May 2014 12:40 PM To: ozDotNet Subject: Re: [OT] Laptop to replace macbook Lenovo yoga 2 pro. 8 gigs ram, 256 ssd, and some very cool features. Spent around $1700 when I bought it. Loved using it as was light, quick and just felt nice in my hands. Now I have to replace it but I also need a new Windows laptop (13" also) for some coding so thought I could get something that would replace both. Can anyone recommend something they've used or are using currently? Same size, weight if possible, ram and solid state is a must. Budget under 2k.
