I could never have imagined that Windows 8 phone development used Hyper-V for emulation. I spent hours installing a fresh VS2013 with all updates in Windows 8.1 VMWare Player, and after writing test a phone app which looks lovely in the designer, I'm unable to run it due to the exact problem described by this guy:
