Not heard anything either way (sorry that's not much help) but if you are installing WM SDK, check that you are not installing a newer version than what you currently have working on your Windows 7 machine.
>From what you have said its more likely an issue with mismatched VS to SDK versions. As a rule of thumb if it runs on Windows 7, it should run on Windows 8. If you were to install all the stuff you are installing onto a Windows 7 machine you'd probably hit the same issue.
