If you're using the Slack app on Windows, it uses Squirrel. From memory the
Atom Editor also uses Squirrel (and uses the Mac version of Squirrel on
that platform).

Agree that WiX is horrible. We've got a few internal products that use it
so I've spent some time with it. I try to avoid touching it unless
absolutely necessary.

My general workflow when modifying the WiX dialogs (wxs files) is a mixture
of hand editing and modifications via WixEdit (
https://sourceforge.net/projects/wixedit/). Just saw
https://sourceforge.net/projects/wixtrim/, when I went to the WixEdit page
on SourceForge.
