Dear Kerry,
I too hate the term witchhunt and am appalled that in the vastly
unprofessional field of obstetrics only a doctor supportive of
homebirthing and ? midwifery care is brought up for their actions.
Why?
It is not enough for us to declare how unjust the situation is to each
other we are the people who know the wrongs of the situation.
After eventually joining the ACMI because of a reduced number of viable
options i would like to tentatively ask. What are the ACMI doing to
address this, what is their, sorry our bureaucratic comitees really
doing. Why are we still governed by a nursing council and why are we
still being judged not by our peers but by our tormentors and as they
would see it our "competitors".
I've shouted before through this chatline that rallying the troops is
the only way yet apathy prevails. That is not the way it is done is
cried out. Well through years of trying it the calm formulated and
bureaucratic way we are close to preverbial extinction as autonomous (
a bit of a joke really) midwives.
I ask all senior members of the ACMI to call an emergency meeting and
instigate positive direct action.
I don't think I am that radical in my thoughts but we are denieing
woman of Australia choices they are entitled too and we are not even
enabling the information that they need in order to be empowered to
choose and lobby for care they want and need.
We should all bow our heads. Watch as more of our colleagues are
humiliated, threatened, abused by an inappropriate system as we tussle
for information about whether or not we should wear shoelaces or slip
ons. Really!!!!!!
I pray for a day of unity when we are midwives and families together
demanding information and choice.
Am i mad should i give up and change profession???????
fearful of your responses....................
NIGEL.
P.S BY THE WAY CAN WE STOP CALLING IT A WITCH HUNT? SOME OF THE BEST
PEOPLE I'VE KNOWN ARE WITCHES OF ONE SORTB OR ANOTHER.
HUBBLE BUBBLE TOIL AND TROUBLE.................!
