Indeed Sue I would not suggest that a criminal act go unchecked. The
response i gave was to the submitted letter on the chat line. As
indeed your comments are a supposition of my intent from there rather
minimal content.

The case hilighted by another reader identified a homebirth supporting
doctor that had been at the point of criticism and re-appraisal, the
overtones of the general comments in the rest of the entry where in my
view point generally talking about the phenomenon of midwife litigation
as opposed to medical litigation and the incongruence of the researched
evidence governing practice and the numbers of court actions.

After reading the newspapers I was much more informed about the
individual case and could see the need for further investigation. I am
not opposed to justifiable enquiries! However i was appalled that the
female doctors name, practice and home address were listed for all to
see at this stage of the enquiry.

I am collating an approachable doctors list in our geographical area of
practice at present and I would be fearful for these worthy people if
their personal views would be made aware to many of their peers. Who
through their governing bodies push the medical/interventionist/ and
controlling authoratative
viewpoint.

I am sorry if I caused you despair, or distress but I make no apologies
for making you think and find out the truth.

As for my posts not furthering midwifery then where would you like
midwifery to go. I have always seen midwifery as a collaberation of
women there families and ourselves hopefullt working harmoneously with
family doctors and obstetricians when needed or sought.
How is watching the dissemination of midwifery philosophy and the
dissolvement and outlawing of homebirthing going to help midwifery.

Please forgive this late night entry, and all it's undoubted human
errors!

yours I thought in Midwifery!
Nigel
