Hi , i am also new to ozmidwifery - i have been quietly lurking the last
couple of weeks and would really like to hear more about the training
program you did - was this in Australia - what were the objectives- the
philosophy- the methods of study -practical experience. I was a nurse
prior to becoming a midwife but i strongly believe that direct entry is the
only way forward. I have some experience of the Dutch system of direct
entry but this is university based. I'm totally ignorant about the
alternative models of education and i'm sure there are others who may be
and would like to know more. I'd certainly like to hear your opinions
regarding the differences ( and similiarities ) between a community based
programme and and a university/obstetric based one - does university have
to mean obstetric - i would hope not. Pls share some of your feelings
about this - i'm sure i cant be the only one interested!
