Dear Elaine
A solution to this is for those who wish to be both and work in both areas
do midwifery and nursing subjects (ie become nurse-midwives or
midwife-nurses!) so that they may work as both (their wish), and direct
entry midwifery for those who wish to be midwives and practice only
midwifery. This could work - not all of us want to be nurses, but I do hear
what you are saying and it is a valid point.
