I work in a remote area as a Community Health Nurse. Obviously only part of my role is as a Midwife. Small communities (as many are in remote Australia) are unable to support a Midwife unless she/he was travelling between communities. And then one would need the local community nurse to also be a Midwife in case those skills were required while the Midwife was several hundred kilometres away. I support Direct Entry Midwifery. But I also think there may be room for RNs to also become Midwives. -- This mailing list is sponsored by ACE Graphics. Visit <http://www.acegraphics.com.au> to subscribe or unsubscribe.
