Congratulations to ACMI-Victoria on the publication of 'Reforming
Midwifery: a Discussion Paper on the introduction of Bachelor of Midwifery
Programs in Victoria'. The BM Task Force chaired by Diane Cutts - Marlene
Anderson, Helen Brown, Joy Johnston, Maree Markus, Vanessa Owen, Kerreen
Reiger and Ann-Marie Scully - have produced a wonderful document which I
believe is a milestone in the development of midwifery in Australia. The
rationale for developing 3 year midwifery education programmes ('direct
entry') is firmly embedded in the development of midwifery models of care
that are woman-centred. Thank you for all the effort that has gone into
this excellent document.
