Hi everyone,
There is no place for teaching women how to breathe in labour and hasn't been for
several years. Breath awareness is advocated by Gerlinde Wilberg, Janet Balaskas and
many other experts in the field. Buxton's study in 1973 showed that women who practice
how to breathe are more likely to suffer from ill-effects of lowered carbon dioxide
levels than to gain from increased levels of oxygen. Read September issue of
Interaction- the National Associatioon of CHildbirth Educators Newsletter for a
comprehensive article on this subject for childbirth educators.
