oh how i have become empowered and learnt so much from "consumers". But tell me, when I have the threat of deregistration hanging over my head if I support womens right to make informed choices and that choice goes against medical recommendations HOW DO I WIN! I have mothers evaluate my service and make recommendations for change, most I acknowledge and change, some I have to let go as the mothers issue. I believe their is no other way for midwives to practice. In this form of care the mothers are satisfied mostly and they are empowered but from a midwives point of view - my registration is my life (after family) and I am not prepared to give it up for a fight I cant win. Mothers are the ones that need to fight and until they realise they are losing their right to make choices, and that might be when homebirth becomes illegal, they are happy to sit back and enjoy the beautiful experience of birthing at home. Not until that right is taken from them will they suddenly come up in arms. Midwives cant win this fight. Ruth Casey Midwife [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- This mailing list is sponsored by ACE Graphics.
