Dear All

The debates about consumer involvement in the ACMI and midwife involvement
in organisations such as Homebirth Australia have been constant. Irene's
comments in my view are really worth exploring. How can the ACMI have a
partnership with consumers which is incorporated into ACMI policy? Perhaps
the first step is invite comments on this issue from the Consumers Health
Forum being the peak body for consumers of health care. Partnerships in
other areas of health care are likely to exist. Someone on the list may
know of such models and may make a comment. Incorporating consumers within
currently structured ACMI management committees is not the way to go.
