Dear All,
Not familiar with raising debate or issues here, stop laughing in the
back I want to ask why the hell anyone commited to providing good
quality midwifery care sinks to using an outdated 'tool' of care like a
partogram.
If a partogram contained areas to identify the ambiance, the lighting,
the songs the sensory environment the feeling of the scene, the
emotional indicators and issues..........well you should get the
picture. I put it to you all that we have such a partogram in
Homebirth practice they are called detailed chronological and
descriptive notes that include All aspects of the birthing process for
that individual.
For those of you ready to point out that one cannot see at a glance how
a labour is going from such long drawn out notes then I would ask
yourseves to re-evaluate your commitment to the tertiary aspects of
birth. The feel of the birth the appropriate lighting or favourite
record can have as much relevence as the ill gotten VE findings,
"Oh heaven she was only 3 cms a minute ago and wow Who would've thought
etc."
Well enough of my trying to get another debate going. The one about
consumers on the ACMI is a stale one of course consumers should have a
role in midwifery groups, hierachy and differentiation alienates so
easily.
PLEASE CYNTHIA BOASE WRITE SOMETHING ONTO THE LINE AND STOP SKULKING IN
THE CORNER.
and thank you to Lynne Staff, The homebirth will be all the more
richer.
With love and apologies for my ramblings this evening.
Nigel.
P.S. sorry heather Gullivar I will reply soon. Love nIgel.
