PLEASE NOTE! The Health dept of W.A. (or Government) has NOT AGREED to
cover midwives insurance costs. They have agreed to negotiate a method of
employment for the midwives that will ensure insurance cover under the same
conditions that the hospital employees have. This brings into question the
viability of the integrity of the program and will take lots of negotiations
to find a temporary, suitable answer. The issue of insurance is not being
negotiated... the issue of employment as a way of saving the program is.
