Re: Birthrites Survey Interpretation Presentation.
Hi,This is a note to let you know that the current midwifery students, and their senior lecturer, from the Nedlands campus of Edith Cowan University kindly took on the job of interpreting the results of the Birthrites Birth Survey - that was included in the December 2000 issue of the Birthrites magazine, and was then uploaded onto the Birthrites website for further responses – and they will be presenting the results of their findings at a free public conference on November 3rd 2001.
The students have also put together a paper of their findings, which they hope to have published, and Jennifer Fenwick (their senior lecturer) is very positive that the information supplied by all the women who responded (and some men, as partners of women who have birthed by c/section) will be invaluable in helping the medical profession understand the emotional and physical impact of caesarean birth.
If you would like a copy of the registration form, for the conference, reply personally and I will email it to you as an attachment. I hope you can make it on the day, as the preliminary findings have been absolutely ‘awesome’. The students have done an amazing job, as has their wonderful lecturer, and Birthrites’ hopes this is the beginning of a greater understanding in regard to the impact caesarean birth can have, and the challenges women face when planning VBAC.
PS – Please register if attending, as numbers need to be known so that the students can organise seating and catering.

When just the art
of being kind
Is all the sad
world needs...
