Title: Re: head lice treatment
Phone call from a woman breastfeeding a 3 week old.  Her 3 year old had head lice and the whole family (mum too) were treated with KP24.  She was worried about the effects of this pesticide on her baby via breastmilk.  Someone told her she couldn't breastfeed.  Any thoughts?

I can’t help you advise this poor woman, Trish, other than to support the earlier response to approach a pharmacist, or look up the drugs (contained in the medication) on the internet – do a search.

But for future reference the BEST way to treat lice is with normal hair conditioner. The little blighters can’t move through the hair, with their teeny little legs, when you make it all gluggy. You can then literally comb them out with a lice comb. If there is an epidemic at the kid’s school, then you can give your kids the ‘oily look’ until the plague passes – with heaps of conditioner or something like Sorbolene cream which washes out. Lice don’t like gluggy hair!
